Dick Bushell’s 1933 Ford Coupe

Dick Bushell of Western Australia built this 1933 Ford coupe.

The Australian-bodied five window coupe was channelled about 5″ over the chassis, and remained unchopped. It was painted a bright orange and had pinstriped lines on the exposed chassis, panels and guards.

It was powered by Ford Falcon XT GT running gear, including a 289ci Ford Windsor V8 which exited through twin exhaust pipes.

It rolled on chromed Ford GT 12-slot wheels shod in Bridgestone rubber.

It had Fiat tractor headlights initially in the ’70s however once the car was painted black in the 1980s, these were changed to more conventional round headlights. The GT wheels were also replaced with steel wheels and Ford LTD hubcaps.

The car has survived over four decades and was rebuilt by Rod Henderson of Western Australia in ’99-’00.

It is still black, but now supercharged and has custom billet wheels sized 6×15″ and 8×14″ front and rear, shod in white wall tyres. New fibreglass guards are mounted to meet WA road requirements and the original guards are bubbled-wrapped away in storage. [1]
