The Australian Hot Rod History website is an evolving archive of Australia’s unique and storied hot rodding heritage.
We’re committed to providing a comprehensive digital format for sharing and archiving historic Australian hot rod-related photographs, information and more.
By having this collection online, we can share archives and spread knowledge across a larger community, reach further to source new information, and help in preserving these important pieces of Australian automotive heritage for generations to come.
The categories list will indicate the kind of history we are seeking to compile, and we present it in such a way that is easily explorable, with no distinct order to the arrangement in the hopes that you will read a larger variety of posts to discover and learn new pieces of Australia’s hot rod history.
We want to focus on:
- Race cars and ‘specials’ from as early as the 1920s
- The development and use of Australian-made speed equipment for hot rods
- Documenting the evolution of hot rods for street, strip and show from the earliest builds up to the 1980s
As a user-powered resource, we ask for your help with information, submissions and leads to further solidify and archive Australia’s strong hot rodding history.
For all intents and purposes, we consider a ‘hot rod’ a modified pre-1941 vehicle.
If you have any quality digital images, memorabilia or stories to share, please visit Contributions if you are interested in submitting them to the website. Any historical information is always appreciated.
